2019 Toronto Dragon Festival Coming Soon !
Do you still remember the spectacular scene in front of the Toronto City Hall last summer? Dragons, drums and gongs, acrobatics, martial arts, folk dances and songs as well as folk arts and crafts such as Yangliuqing paintings, Sichuan Face Mask Changing Magic, clay figurines, sugar paintings, paper-cutting art and other Chinese elements gathered at the Nathan Phillips Square. Of course, there were also mouth-watering Chinese and Asian style specialty food. This very first Toronto Dragon Festival really caught the eyes of the tourists around the world and the local residents. The people passing by could not help stopping their steps, joining the celebration together with us.
As what people are expecting, the second Toronto Dragon Festival is coming soon in this year of 2019! The three-day Festival will be landed again in the same location – the centre of Toronto from September 6th to 8th. We welcome again the local artists and the people with different cultural and ethnic backgrounds to join hands together with us for the experience : Enjoy the Food and Dance with Dragon!
As an open-access event with free admission, an annual iconic cultural brand of Canada’s largest city, Toronto Dragon Festival aims to engage the participants with Chinese culture in the most interactive way. The organizers wish to further promote the in-depth exchange of different ethnic cultures in the “meeting place” City of Toronto to celebrate our diversity and fusion.
The first Toronto Dragon Festival in 2018 won the high recognition and enthusiastic participation of exhibitors and spectators. The two-day event covered live performances on stage by professional Chinese and local artists, fine Chinese and Asian cuisine as well as a variety of interactive cultural and fun games in the open area. The Festival has gathered more than 40 performing art groups with more than 200 performers altogether, about 80 food and cultural booths, and over 20,000 visitors.
This year’s Festival will be extended to a three-day event so to accommodate the overwhelmed demand received from the great success of 2018 event. This year’s festival will continue to offer variety of food cuisine, more interactive activities to attract visitors. Of course there will be no shortage of live stage performances which include but not limit to Chinese folk arts, acrobatics, martial arts, calligraphy and painting, ethnic costumes and other colorful cultural displays. Also, don’t forget we have a great number of assorted Festival branded souvenirs to help you keep the good memory and experience.
